WHAT ARE SAFE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN

Howdy Friends! Robin and I had a delightful time at the home school Conference in NC last weekend. We met so many wonderful people. And Saturday was a big hit with parents there.

There was a BIG Surprise though

We were surprised how many parents told us how hard it is to by books for their children, without hidden agendas in them. Many parents said they now must read every book they buy before giving them to their children. They said it is unsafe to simply go by the title.

In the course of the 3 day event we had dozens of parents tell us their stories of dismay over the content of seemingly innocent looking books for children. “You can’t tell by the title,” many would say. Others told us the illustrations were designed to capture the imagination of young ones. Yet hidden within the story would be topics, ideas and suggestions unwelcome in their home.

.

There is an agenda out there that is hard to guard against. By God’s grace, many parents are on the watch for this attack on our young ones. Robin and I had never really thought about it on this level. But this event truly told us how threatening this really is.

I would often point parents to my motto on our big banner. “Children’s books the way they used to be.
