OUR SPIRITUAL BODY – DEVOTIONAL
Howdy Friends! “But what is the resurrection like?” The boy asked, he pushed dirt with a stubby stick onto a pile between his feet.
Grandpop leaned forward, dragged his boot toe through the dust. “The eternal life?” He asked the boy. “Well, there is a passage in the Bible that might help.”
He could see the boy was curious, but maybe not ready for a Bible verse. So he pointed to the flower bed. “Have a look at those zinnias there all tall and full of colors, yellow, red, orange. Pretty huh?” The boy nodded.
“The Bible, God’s word, explains it this way,” Grandpop continued. “ There is the earthly body, and the spiritual body. Think of our earthly body as the seeds of those big beautiful zinnias. Remember when we started that bed, stuck those tiny black little specks of seeds in the dirt?”
The boy nodded again.
“That’s our earthly body, and then, the spiritual body takes root, sprouts, grows and blooms in glorious colors. It’s us, we can’t imagine how, but that’s us. As different as those seeds from those beautiful blooms, but that’s how The Almighty works it for us. The beauty of the heavenly body is different from the earthly one, just as different as those seeds and big, beautiful, blooming zinnias there.” Grandpop put his hand on the boy’s shoulder and led him.
Together they walked to the flower bed and watched the butterflies there. ~ Gitty Up, Dutch.
