A Dog Named Saturday
Coffee Clutch got its name from the blog posts I wrote for years from the barn sitting enjoying my morning coffee with my mare, dogs, kitties and chickens. Folks really enjoyed them. Coffee Clutch is more than a newsletter. It’s a visit, it’s information, it’s fun, it’s musings, barn talk, writing talk, bird talk, horse talk and faith thoughts. And of course, it’s all the news about A DOG NAMED SATURDAY, old new and coming soon.
I’ll share some of my works in progress, upcoming publications, and more. Folks enjoy “The Old Man on the Porch, and Grandpop too, so they’ll be dropping in.

PROPPING UP HIS LEANING SIDE
Howdy Friends! “Propping up his leaning side.” A pastor of a small church would occasionally call on a gentleman to pray, and every time this one particular fellow would pray, he would end with this statement, “And, oh Lord, prop us up on our leaning side.” Finally,...
A TWO ACT PLAY
Howdy Friends! A two act play staring juncos, chickens, squirrels and Fluffernutter. He was darker than most, that proud junco. He sat on a twisted branch just a few feet above the hustle and bustle that is the morning gathering of chickens fussing about their...
WHAT’S IN A HORSE’S FOOT?
What’s in a horse’s foot? Sensory perception, horses can see with their feet. Balance, for horses find their balance with all their feet can see. Traction, for the horse’s foot is perfectly designed to grip the ground, hard, soft, rocky, grassy, sandy or frozen and...
IDLE TIME EQUINE POSTURE PROBLEMS
Howdy Friends! Miss Rosie has that kind of body, that falls into poor posture and body carriage quickly when idle. Even though her habitat is one of free roaming, in and out as she pleases, room to wander. Like most horses, and people, mostly she will do not much....
SUNNY DAYS and SATURDAY TOO
Howdy Friends! And then Saturday said, "Today the sun is being the sun again. Which is almost always a more sunny day than when the sun is being clouds, or when the sun is being rain. I think that is how it is, most of the time. And since the sun is being the sun...
IS YOUR HORSE CONTENT?
Howdy Friends, Is your horse content? Just as we do, our horses have emotions, and thoughts of the day about their job and what is important to them. I've written before about horses and their emotions HERE , and I understand how folks have a wide range of where they...
RIDING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH GRANDPOP
Howdy Folks! Riding in the New year was a tradition we didn't do as often as we used too. Grandpop had a year every now and then, in recent years, when he just wasn't up to it. And I worried since he'd retired ol' Blue a few years back his heart wasn't in it so deeply...
WHEN A NATION FORGETS GOD
Howdy Friends! And I replied: God is even kind to the unthankful and to the evil. He rains upon the just and the unjust. The general mercy of God in His long-suffering should be enough to cause men to cry out in humble thanksgiving and praise for the time God has...
“Grandpop – The Week Between Christmas and New Year.”
Howdy Friends! “Grandpop – The Week Between Christmas and New Year.” It didn’t take long to find Grandpop. He usually spent the biggest part of mornings in the barn. Cold weather like this he’d rotate horses inside, “To keep it warm in here.” Every horse had its turn...
We are Responsible for Setting Boundaries
Howdy Friends! “Boundaries.” We are responsible for setting boundaries. Not by discipline or heavy handedness, but by simple politeness, consistency and thoughtfulness. Horses do not violate boundaries because they want to be bad, unruly or “pushy.” They violate...
