Howdy Friends! “Who made God?” Not too long ago a young man was trying his best to prove to me, that his non-belief was a better way than my devotion to Heavenly Father.
He even said, “That’s a blind faith,” as we discussed points.
“Yup.” I answered. “By faith alone I believe.”
We continued a friendly chat. And eventually the young man told me he believed in the “Big Bang,” theory. And man evolved from apes, and apes from the, “slime thing,” as he put it. And that evolution proved him right.
I acknowledged his point. Thought a bit. Then asked him, “Where did the stuff that made the ‘Bang,’ come from?” As he thought about a response I followed up with, “Who made the, ‘slime thing?’”
“I don’t know.” The young man replied. Then he asked, “Who made God?”
Now that’s not an uncommon question. And surely not the first time I’d heard it.
So how should we respond?
Scripture tells all we need to know. God is eternal. Always has been. Always will be. We might have a tough time wrapping our brains around that, because God created us as finite beings. We live in this life, in this world, surrounded by all manner of things that have a beginning, a time of life, and an end. Like flowers, trees, birds and pets. And our earthly bodies.
But God does not live in a time period. A lifespan. HE exists in eternity. Many times scripture, His word, teaches us.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:28)
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Psalms 90:2)
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:17)
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:27)
In fact God’s word begins with, “In the beginning God ”
He exists. His word clearly states, God exists. And HE says in scripture, “I am,” many times. I am. Never does scripture tell us HE is finite. Never does His word say, someone made Him. On the contrary scripture does tell us, God, “Created the heaven and the earth.”
Some say believers are foolish to believe in God. To have “Faith” in an invisible God. But what can non-believers believe in? Where did matter come from? Why does anything exist? Where did energy come? Where did light come from? Where did life come from? Sadly non-believers are forced to jump from theory to theory. Theories conceived by man’s limited understanding. Never enjoying the liberty, grace, and comfort of the Everlasting Father.
Even God’s first man rebelled, and brought sin and death to His perfect creation. But He loved man so much, He provided a way of salvation for man so his sin could be forgiven and he would be able to spend eternity with the eternal God.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16).
Who made God?
The answer is clear. God is eternal. Always has been. Always will be. “In the beginning God,” And it is with faith we are certain. ~ Gitty up, Dutch.
Wonderful!
