Howdy Friends! What does it mean “To Honor God?” To honor God is after all “the chief end of man.”
But what does that mean?
But what does that mean? Fall on our knees and praise Him, Sing Psalms of Praise? Yes of course. But that’s the easy part. We can do that without thinking. We do that by habit. We can do that without sincerity. We can do that with little effort. God demands effort. God deserves effort.
As Paul directed Titus
To honor God means to truly honor Him – By living a holy life, that leads by example. Teaches, and encourages. As Paul directed Titus, we must live lives that do not bring shame, or discredit to the church (for the church is the body of Christ). For if we, as Christians fail, if we act in selfish, worldly, sinful ways that hurt and dishonors God, that is not honoring Him. For the wicked will say, “See, there goes a Christian, they are hypocrites!”
We are chosen to lead not only by words
NO! Honoring God means to truly honor Him – By keeping His Commands – By living lives honorable by His standards, not this fallen world’s. We are chosen to lead not only by words, but by our actions.
Notice JOSHUA 22:5
“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
We Christians are commanded to struggle against temptation, self gratification, desires and pride – We are commanded to to be honorable.
Notice what Paul said: Titus 3:5
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,”
It’s simple. Our walk in His way, is how we honor God. We can do this, by His grace. ~ Gitty Up, Dutch.
