A Dog Named Saturday SATURDAY AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS – A SNEAK PEEK (3in Saturday’s next adventure, “Saturday and the Ten Commandments.” And another look at the wonderful illustrations by Troy Locker Palmer. We think Troy is the very best illustrator everIn this scene Saturday had been pondering things of great importance. And his ponderings had him …
Well, why don’t we just enjoy a little excerpt:
It occurred to Saturday that it was a very big sudden that brought all those importants to him. And he thought about that. By the time he had thought about it in a way that it wanted to be thought about, Dutch had gathered up his chair, his coffee cup and other things, and started for the house. Fluffernutter and Danielle were still sleeping right next to Kessy. Saturday always followed Dutch, and he wanted to, but this morning’s sudden importants kept him right there in the barn.
Even when Dutch called out, “Come on Saturday, let’s go in.”
Saturday pondered his sudden importants. His ponderings went this way. “What does it mean?” And his ponderings went this way too, “Where do those questions go to find answers?” They went this way too, “Can I find answers if I look for them?” He had other ponderings too like, “Is there more things of sudden importants to discover?” That made him think about the time they went looking to see what kind of morning it was, but that was different. In its own different kind of way.
Right then, and Saturday did not know why, but he knew he needed to find a way to help the answers find those questions. “Because,” he told Kessy who he was almost certain had been listening to his ponderings, “there might even be more questions about trouble, listening, honest, and friendly that need answers to find them.” Saturday was pretty sure he knew the “friendly” answer, because for him that was easy. He had a tail to wag, and he wagged it all the time in a biggest friendly kind of way.
