SATURDAY AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS – A SNEAK PEEK
Howdy Friends! Many times adventures begin when friends have gathered to, “Think about things that need thinking about.” And this is exactly how Saturday’s great adventure to understand The Ten Commandments began. Now at the time, Saturday was thinking about the thinking of important things like, behaving, being honest, and not wanting what things someone else has.
And that thinking went something like this:
(Excerpt Page 1 SATURDAY AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS – soon to be released)
It started just about like every other day, except those days that started differently. And it wasn’t long before Saturday realized this day would be a differently day. But he didn’t realize it right away. So he rubbed the sleep from his eyes, stretched a big long stretch, then followed Dutch out to the barn.
Before long Dutch had all the morning chores done, and he, the kitties Fluffernutter, Danielle, and Saturday gathered with Kessy as they did each morning. This was when Saturday got the first thinking kind of thought that this was going to be a differently kind of day. One, he thought, that might not be just like the others.
But he didn’t know why. He did know his mind was thinking things in a very busy kind of way. A way that had him thinking about all sorts of things, big blue sky, tall trees. Kessy and other horses, like those at Chincoteague where they had traveled not long ago. He was thinking about flowers, butterflies, Dutch and Robin. The kitties and chickens, and turtles and birds in the forest. Usually when Saturday thinks about so many things, his thinking that way makes him tired. But this morning it made him not tired at all.
It made Saturday curious.
Now it’s not that Saturday had never been curious before, but somehow, this differently kind of day had a differently kind of curious with it too. Not like the kind of curious he had when he tried to sniff the skunk. Or the time he discovered what mud was for. This was a bigger kind of curious.
Then it came to him. Just like that! All of a sudden! Like the time that big thunderstorm blew in. One minute the sun was being the sun. And the very next minute the sun was black clouds, bright lightning and booming thunder. With raindrops so big they looked like apples! It was just that sort of sudden – when just now Saturday realized he was curious about why things were the way they were. Why is it important to be good and not get into trouble? Why was it important to listen to Dutch? Why was it important to be friendly? Why is it important to be honest?
Saturday and his friends would set out to discover those importants, that very differently kind of a day.
