Howdy Friends! Today I was asked, “I have a question. As far as rasping hooves, does it require a experienced person to get the correct angles, or can it be easily learned?” I responded. “ There really are no ‘angles,’ yes folks talk about them, what is important is to trim the foot TO THE HORSE – But yes, you do need to be taught. But it needs to come from someone who knows & understands fully barefoot care. It is truly EASY to learn, but there are aspects to the foot’s biomechanics that someone who can SEE THE WISDOM IN NAILING ON SHOES CANNOT POSSIBLY GRASP… I say, IF YOUR TRIMMER ALSO DOES SHOES, GET ANOTHER TRIMMER.
Many take absolute exception with that statement, and that’s okay, but I stand by my convictions. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO POSTURE, BODY CARRIAGE AND STRUCTURAL HEALTH. Hope this helps.” ~ Gitty Up, Dutch.
